Featuring Five Area High School DECA Clubs, the 2018 DECA Shark Tank will be held on November 6th at Ferncroft Country Club.

The High School DECA program prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, and management. Nationally there are 3500 participating schools, with over 200,000 members, DECA gives high school students practical business experience.

This shark tank event is sponsored by IBN; Innovative Business Networking, a ten-year-old group of entrepreneurs who meet weekly to share ideas as well as referrals.  Made up of 24 local business owners and professionals, it is more of a Resource Group than a Referral Group.

Five Area High School DECA Groups participate in this annual competition where each group is assigned a business which has been selected by IBN.  Each group works with the business owner to develop a business marketing plan based on a fictitious $8,000 advertising budget.

The competition has each group present their plan to a panel of judges with marketing, communication, and advertising backgrounds.  The results are based on DECA guidelines and the group with the most points is declared the winner.  Cash prizes are awarded to the top three groups.

Their year’s event is highly anticipated in that the Captain of the 2018 Olympic Gold Medal winning women’s hockey team will be the featured speaker.  Meghan Duggan will speak on her life’s journey; what it took to reach her goals and what it was like to compete on the largest stage in the world.

Meghan has asked that the event this be open to the public as she wants to share her story and hopefully inspire this group of high school and middle school students in the way she was at that same age.

The program begins at 6:30pm.If you wish to attend, please contact Stephen Vesey at steve@businesslegacystrategies.com or 978-560-1301.
