Every month we like to spotlight a business, non-profit, or individual who contributes to the positive culture of our north shore community. This month we are spotlighting a non-profit that is near and dear to our hearts. Northeast Arc is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people of all abilities to reach their full potential.

Since 1954 Northeast Arc has been helping people with disabilities become full participants in the community; choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play. They currently serve approximately 15,000 people in nearly 190 cities and towns offering a wide variety of programs including: Autism Services, Day Habilitation, Deaf Services, Early Intervention, Employment Services, Family Support, Personal Care Assistance, Recreation, Residential and Transition Services.

One of the unique things about Northeast Arc is that they are overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of individuals with disabilities, parents and siblings of people with disabilities, and business and community leaders. They are truly living their mission of helping everyone they work with become full members of the community.

Our experiences with this program have included going to the Breaking Ground Cafe in the Beverly YMCA Sterling location and downtown Peabody location to enjoy some coffee and goodies. They recently hosted our Next Gen networking group coffee meet up there and it was very successful—people loved it. We have also used their shredding company, Heritage Industries for our business needs.

We encourage others in our community to check out the events, services, and seek out ways you can become involved in the Northeast Arc. There are so many opportunities for you to connect with this wonderful program whether it is by donating, giving of your time, or patronizing the many businesses that Northeast Arc works closely with throughout the year.

There isn’t enough we can say about Northeast Arc. First of all, everyone who works there is truly amazing—it’s obvious they love what they do and very reflective of the type of organization they contribute to. Northeast Arc helps individuals of all abilities reach their full potential. You see this first hand going to into Breaking Grounds Café in downtown Peabody, volunteering at Newhall Fields Community Farm, visiting Arcworks Gallery, and much more. We love working with their secure shredding business, Heritage Industries, at PRI. The milestones they help individuals accomplish, their involvement in the community, and contribution to our local economy is unmatched. We encourage all of our friends and clients to patronize their businesses and consider hiring a client of Northeast Arc to help you at yours!”  Jacqui Richard
